Matt joined Chicago Title as Underwriting Counsel in August of 2024. For the past ten years, he has been employed as an attorney with one of Buffalo’s largest law firms, most recently as a partner in the Real Estate and Banking/Financial Transactions groups.There Matt was the head of both the Residential Real Estate and Title Insurance Committees.
Throughout his career, Matt has been an Examining Counsel for Chicago Title and has had the privilege to work alongside and learn from some of the best attorneys in the industry. He has handled a wide variety of matters in the fields of commercial real estate, including transactions involving the acquisition, financing, development, leasing and exchange of commercial real estate, real estate title and low-income housing tax credit transaction. Additionally, with Matt's experience as counsel to various national and local lending institutions, he brings a unique perspective on how to finance challenging real estate projects, particularly in the area of title insurance. Matt is often hired by lending institutions to develop finance models for real estate transactions that utilize complex structures and tax savings to clients.
Matt graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 2011 and earned his Bachelor's of Science from St. John Fisher University in 2008. He is a member of both the New York State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Erie County, where Matt is a member of the Real Property Law Committee. He is admitted to practice in New York State.
From 2015 to 2021, Matt has been recognized as an Upstate New York SuperLawyers Rising Star. Outside the office, he has donated his time to the Volunteer Lawyers Project, was a former volunteer firefighter, a student mentor for Bennett High School and Vice President for Architect for Kids, Inc.
