Rich joined Chicago Title in July 2024 as Senior Underwriting Counsel. In 2023, he retired after 42 years in private practice from Nesper, Ferber, DiGiacomo, Johnson & Grimm, LLP. Rich concentrated his practice on commercial closings and represented various lenders, real estate developers, sellers, purchasers, and borrowers on commercial real estate and business transactions. He was also an examining counsel for Ticor Title and Chicago Title Insurance for over 30 years.
Since 2013, Rich has been an adjunct professor at Daemen University, teaching Real Estate Law in the Paralegal Studies Department. He was named one of the "Best Lawyers in America" for over fifteen consecutive years in the area of Real Estate Law. In 2012, Rich was awarded Real Estate Lawyer of the Year for the Buffalo, NY area in the "Best Lawyers In America" Woodward/White Inc. publication. In addition, Rich has been on various "Best Attorney" lists for Real Estate Law, such as "Who's Who in Law", "Best Lawyers in New York" and "Super Lawyers".
He was both a member of the board of directors and an officer of the SUNY at Buffalo Law Alumni Association from 2004 to 2013 and served as president from 2011 to 2012. In his roles with the Bar Association of Erie County, Rich has served as chair of the Real Property Law Committee from 1987 to 1990, was a member of the board of directors from 1991 to 1994 and was a member of the Nominating Committee from 2008 to 2011. Rich graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo School of Law, Magna Cum Laude, in 1976 and received his undergraduate degree from Canisius College in 1973.
